Joanna Klein was named Senior Vice President, Scripted Development of Lifetime in August, 2016. In this role, Klein is responsible for developing and overseeing production
of all scripted series for the network. Currently, Klein is overseeing production on the psychological thriller YOU, from Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, starring Penn Badgely and Shay Mithcell; season four of the award-winning series UnREAL and in pre-production on the Jenji Kohan and Jamie Denbo drama set against the Renissance Faire, American Princess.
Klein joined Lifetime from The CW Network, where since 2010 she was Senior Vice President, Development. During her tenure, she developed the award-winning series Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, in addition to pop culture hits Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries and Arrow, among many others. Klein began with the network as Vice President, Development in 2006.
Realizing her true passion in television and content development, Klein began her creative career as an executive at Lionsgate Television where she quickly grew her portfolio of hits, including Showtime’s Weeds and USA’s The Dead Zone, as Vice President, Development. Klein then became Vice President, Programming at Regency Television where she developed the FX series Thief and NBC’s Windfall. Earlier in her career, Klein worked at Imagine Television, Walt Disney Television and Goldman Sachs & Co.
Born and raised outside of Boston, MA, Joanna graduated with honors from Emory University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Klein currently resides in Los Angeles.
